If you are opening your pool for the first time on our system then go to installation instructions on other page. If you are opening your pool and you closed it on our system last year then follow the next steps.

OPENING YOUR POOL:

1. Balance your basic water chemistry – Alkalinity 80 to 100 ppm. PH 6.8 to 7.2 ppm Calcium hardness 300 to 400 ppm.

2. If you have had a problem with high phosphates you can now add aphosphate remover like Revive.

3. Clean your filter. If D.E. replace your D.E. If cartridge, remove cartridge and spray off with a hose or let it soak in a cartridge filter cleaner overnight. If sand, use a sand filter cleaner and follow the directions.

4. After cleaning the filter, turn on your pump and drop your Pool RX and booster if you need one into your skimmer basket. Remember to leave the blue cartridge in your skimmer basket all season long.

5. Plug in your Green Smart control box and make sure you have power. The red light on the side of the box should come on and off every 30 or 40 seconds. if not check power supply or make sure the GFI in the box has not been tripped. Make sure wires from box are connected to the post on the clear chamber. Make sure your amp meter in the box reads at least .5 .

6. At the start of every season we recommend using a shock like S.O.S. it helps to get the pool started in the right direction quicker. You can use any non chlorine shock as well.  1 pound per 10,000 gallons of water.

7. You will need to shock your pool weekly with a non chlorine shock — 1 pound for every 15,000 gallons

8. We recommend using a Enzyme/Clarifier once a week as well – This is not necessary.

9. Test your Ph and Alkalinity twice a week and adjust as needed.  Check your Calcium hardness at least once a month.

10. Clean your clear chamber with the plates at every month. I suggest using 4 gallons of water and ¼ gallon of muriatic acid in a 5 gallon bucket. let the chamber soak in it for at least 2 hours. then remove and rinse with water.

11. Clean your sand at least once a month. This should be done no matter what sanitizer you are using.

WINTERIZING YOUR POOL:

1. Balance your basic water chemistry.

2. Clean your filter the day before you want to close.

3. Add a double dose of non-chlorine shock to the pool

4. Add a double dose of a enzyme/calrifier

5. Let your filter run for at least 1 hour after adding the elements.

6. Follow winterization procedures for your equipment.

7. Clean your clear chamber.

8. Unplug your control box.
