INSTALLATION AND START UP PROCEDURES
- Upon receiving you new Green Smart Chlorine Free Swimming Pool system, open up the box and make sure nothing was damaged in shipping first.
- Next you need to install the Titanium clear chamber in line on your filter system.
Place the chamber in your return line that goes back to the pool. Place it anywhere after the filter. The unit comes plumbed for 2” piping. You can reduce it with bushings if you need to. - Once you have installed your clear chamber, you can now mount your control box anywhere you want within 8 feet of the chamber. it should be easy to get to and near an electrical outlet. You can mount it on a wall or a post. It is a weather proof box.
- After mounting the control box, make sure you have removed any packaging material that might be inside. You should plug in the box and make sure you have power to the box. The red light on the side of the box should come on and go off every 30 or 40 seconds. if not make sure the GFI breaker inside the box has not tripped. Once you know your system has power, unplug it and do not turn it back on until your pool is ready by following the next steps.
- Balancing your water chemistry. Your alkalinity should be between 80ppm and 100ppm. Your PH should be between 6.8ppm and 7.2ppm. We know this is lower than you are used to, but because we are not using any corrosive chemicals, we are able to run this system at neutral PH, which is 7.0. Your Calcium Hardness should be between 300ppm and 400ppm. If you have to raise your Calcium Hardness, you should wait at least 24 hours before testing.
- When you removed your cover, we hope your pool was clear. If not, do what ever you normally would do to get it cleared up. It is perfectly o.k. to use a chlorine shock if your have to. It will eventually go away.
- Once your pool is clear, double check your water chemistry and adjust if needed.
- This step is very important. We are going to remove any metals or phosphates that may be in your water. Turn off your pump. Take the bottle of Revive and hook it up to your garden hose and with the hose on spray it over the whole pool until the whole bottle of Revive is empty. Let the pool sit with the pump off for 24 hours and then vacuum your pool to waist preferably or through your filter. When finished vacuuming, you should now clean your filter. If you have a D.E. filter, replace your D.E. If you have a cartridge filter, remove cartridge and spray it off with a hose. If you have a sand filter you must clean your sand. Buy a sand filter cleaner and follow the directions or you can take a 5 gallon bucket, pour in 4 gallons of water and then add ½ gallon of muriatic acid. Put your filter on backwash and turn it on. As you are backwashing start pouring the contents of the 5 gallon bucket directly into the skimmer closest to the filter. When you are finished pouring it in, count to 5 and then turn off your pump, and leave it off for at least 8 hours. Then, with your filter still on backwash turn it on and backwash it for at least one minute and then you get rinse it and then start filtering your pool.
- Now your filter is cleaned, there are no metals or phosphates in your pool water and now your can start your Green Smart Chlorine Free system.
- With the filter running, drop in the Pool RX and the booster is you have one into the skimmer basket closest to the filter. The blue cartridge must stay in the skimmer basket all season. Only take it out when cleaning the basket and then put it back in.
- You can now plug in your control box and start making natural oxygen. make sure the red light on the side of the box comes on and off every 30 or 40 seconds.
- Now check your AMP meter in your box. It should read at least .5 to 1.5. If it is not reading anything, make sure the wires from the control box are plugged into the clear chamber first. If it is reading less than .5 you will need to increase your calcium hardness level in your pool by at least 100 ppm. After adding the calcium hardness increaser, wait 24 before testing. You should notice the reading on the amp meter go up. If it still below .5 then keep adding calcium hardness increaser, approx. 10 pounds a day until it goes up. If it is reading more than 1.5 that is o.k. You will never have to add calcium hardness increaser to your pool.
- You should now be up and running.
WEEKLY MAINTENANCE:
- It is very important to test your Ph at least twice a week and keep it between 6.8 and 7.2. All of the minerals and oxygen work at 100% when kept at these levels.
- We recommend that you shock your pool weekly with a non chlorine shock. One pound per 15,000 gallons or we sell a non chlorine tablet on line that you put in your skimmer basket once a week. We’ve found that this works better. One tablet for every 15,000 gallons. We also sell online a non chlorine shock called S.O.S. it contains 85% non chlorine shock and 15% chlorine. We have found that by adding this small amount of chlorine at night once a week it helps keep your filter cleaner and lasting longer. The chlorine level is gone by the next morning.
- Check your amp meter ion your control box at least every two weeks and make sure it at least reads .5. The calcium level in your pool does drop throughout the summer. Add more calcium if needed. Remember, no more than 10 pounds per day.
- Once a month we recommend that you remove the clear chamber in your piping and let it soak in a bucket that has 4 gallons of water and ¼ gallon of muriatic acid for at least 2 hours. Rinse with water before reinstalling it in your plumbing. This helps keep the plates clean and working at 100%
- It is not necessary, but we recommend to all of our customers no matter how they sanitize their pool to use an enzyme/clarifier on a weekly basis. This product really naturally helps breakdown all of the oils and acids that come off our bodies and all of the organic material that mother nature dumps in our pools. We offer the best, called Ultima – enzyme/clarifier.
